  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Assorted food coloring gels
  • Edible sprinkles and decorations

Instructions:

Mix the flour, baking soda, and baking powder together in a bowl using a whisk

In a different large bowl, mix the sugar and softened butter together until the mixture is smooth

Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones one at a time and mix them together until a dough forms

Separate the dough into several pieces

Add a different color of food coloring gel to each piece and mix them together until the colors are evenly spread

Put each piece of colored dough in the fridge for at least 30 minutes after wrapping it in plastic wrap

Warm your oven up to 375F 190C and put parchment paper on baking sheets

On a floured surface, roll out each color of dough piece to about 1/4 inch thick

Cut out the shapes you want with cookie cutters and place them on the baking sheets that have been prepared

For 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden, bake the cookies

After taking the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets before moving them to wire racks to cool all the way

You can use icing or frosting to add edible sprinkles and other decorations to the cookies after they are completely cool

Before you serve or package the cookies, let the frosting or icing set

Enjoy these tasty cookies that are decorated so nicely
