Chipotle Turkey Burgers with Cheddar and Caramelized Onions
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, minced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- Lettuce and tomato slices for garnish
Instructions:
Ground turkey, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, cilantro, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper should all be mixed together in a bowl
Mix everything together well
Split the mixture in half and shape each half into a burger patty
Get a grill or grill pan hot, but not too hot
The turkey burgers should be cooked all the way through and have grill marks after 5 to 6 minutes on each side
Warm up the olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat while the burgers are cooking
Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring every now and then, for about 15 to 20 minutes, until they get soft and caramelized
Add the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar to the onions that have been caramelized
Cook for two more minutes, until the sugar has dissolved and the onions are covered
Cover the grill and put a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each burger patty in the last minute of cooking
This will melt the cheese
On the grill, toast the burger buns for about one minute, until they get a little brown
Put a tomato slice and a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun of each burger
Then add a turkey burger patty with melted cheddar cheese on top of that
Add a lot of caramelized onions on top, and then put the top bun on top of that
Enjoy the hot Chipotle Turkey Burgers with Cheddar and Caramelized Onions
